This blew my mind some time ago. God’s plan for salvation is embedded in the meaning of the names of the first ten, pre-flood, patriarchs. Their names were: Adam, Seth, Enosh, Cainan, Mahalaleel, Jared, Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech, and Noah. Here are the meanings of their names:
Adam – Man
Seth – Appointed
Enosh – Mortal
Cainan – Sorrow
Mahalaleel – The Blessed God
Jared – Shall come down
Enoch – Teaching
Methuselah – His death shall bring
Lamech – The despairing
Noah – Rest (or comfort)
Mankind was made (appointed) mortal and sinned against God, which brought great sorrow. But God Almighty came down to earth as a man (Jesus the Messiah). He taught about God’s Kingdom and His plan for salvation. His death on the cross brought those despairing without hope, rest, and comfort as they had faith in the life/death/resurrection of Jesus the Messiah. John 3:16.
